Take Charge Of Your Own Personal Security

In today’s world a lot of people are on edge. Nobody should be living there lives in fear. Worrying about what may be and all worst possible scenarios that can happen cannot possibly make for a happy, satisfied life! Yes of course bad things do happen. Criminal activity is a very real part of life. Everyone knows about burglaries and muggings, but over obsessing about them is never a good thing. One way you can set your mind at ease is by being prepared to defend ourselves in the case we should ever have to.

Unless you're a pretty famous person which, let's face it, you're probably not (but neither am I to that measure), then you are responsible for organising your own personal security. So if you find yourself in a situation that puts you in danger, you have to be the bodyguard that comes to your rescue! This is certainly better done if you have a personal security plan thought out beforehand. If you haven't considered doing that before, now’s a good time to start.

Arranging your personal protection security doesn't mean you have to have a black belt in karate or some other high kicking martial art. There are some simple steps that anyone can put into place that will make their lives a little safer. Things like knowing some self defense tricks, keeping a legal weapon on hand, and carrying a personal security alarm.

As already said, you don't need to be a kung fu expert as there are some very smart and simple moves you can learn that can prevent you from becoming the statistic of another crime. One of the very first things you should try to learn is confidence. If you exude confidence it can ward criminals off you will rule you out as a potential victim. Even if you are attacked it will at least make their job harder and make them feel intimidated (yes, the criminal intimidated by the victim!), so they might abandon the crime.

From here, you can learn some moves that can prevent an attacker from getting a hold of you or dragging you into car for example, as well as simple effective techniques to cause pain to the bad guys. You can learn defense moves like this in community courses at recreation centers or police stations in most cities. Look into it and sign up. You will feel more confidence if you land yourself in any potential threatening situations.

But the first rule in self defense is to avoid any sort of confrontation. In other words run or get out of there, take an alternative route if there is one. If not this is where “weapons” like pepper spray and teaser guns come in. If you have something like this on you when you are in a dark or questionable area, you may be able to temporarily deter your assailant with a zap or a spray allowing you to make your escape. Before you buy one of these items, check for regulations in your state or area, as they are illegal in some areas.

Carrying a personal security alarm can also be another real good detractor. If you sense trouble, all you have to do is pull out the pin or push the button and a large screaming signal will blurt out alerting anyone in the area that someone is in danger. Criminals probably won't want to hang around long enough to see who comes looking to see what's up.

By taking action and making a simple personal security plan today you should be able breathe a little easier, knowing your protection is better organized and that should ease your safety fears greatly.
